Relaxing Stay at Sea Shell, Havelock

Beautiful resort with a great location and excellent food choices. Good accommodations and facilities. The staff is very kind and helpful. The Habitat Institute which is in charge of the activities at this resort is a great plus! It is as beautiful as it looks in the pictures.

Only gripe is that their Bonova restaurant has had to remove several items from its menu due to power fluctuations.

Two nights on a remote island resort, best snorkeling.

The location is great. It’s just 1 km from the jetty and although it’s not a sandy beach, you can still go snorkeling and if you have water shoes, you can walk out and swim past the rocks. The pool was nice and there are nice day beds near the shore. The best part was Anurag, the man who provides the activities for the resort. We loved the night marine trek, we saw octopi, neon, coral, and bio fluorescent, coral and many sea cucumbers. He also took us to Raganagar beach for snorkeling. It is by far the most beautiful beach I’ve seen in India, not crowded, white sand, and the best snorkeling I've experience. Swam with sea Turtles and sting rays.

Booking.com said this was a five star hotel but after some poor customer service when trying to sort out payment and booking of cabs for pick up, I learned on Google it is a three star. And based on the service, that seems more accurate . I am sure it is one of the nicest resorts on the island but for the amount paid, including one nonrefundable night we couldn't make because of limited ferry timings to the island which was not mentioned before booking, we expected more. Said there was a DJ and dancing, nope. Food was mediocre and not many seafood options, which was a but surprising for an island. They completely ignored my message requesting a cab for pick up the jetty and when we needed a cab back, acted like it was a hard ask. Not the worst, but would choose somewhere else next time.

Great place...not-so-great beach and staff

The property is beautiful. The room was great! The restaurant and the cafe and the bar were nice too. I also liked the pool area.

The beach isn't really a beach. So if you're expecting a beach front, you'll be disappointed. It is full of dead corals and branches. The staff is very inflexible. We wanted a late check out on a Monday as our ferry was at 4 and were willing to pay for the same but they denied saying the hotel is full. The next day the hotel was practically empty and the staff also said that there's 30% occupancy so we were disappointed at why they didn't give us a late checkout.

Beautiful property with good staff and restaurants, but rooms need to be better cleaned to remove damp/ moulding sme

The property is set on a big, very well maintained piece of lush green land. The view from its beach is beautiful. The 2 restaurants on the property serve tasty food. The staff are very courteous and go beyond their remit to make guests feel special, especially those in the restaurants.

Both the rooms that I had booked had very mouldy/ damp smell. It was so bad that I couldn’t sleep on the 1st night. The bedding was changed upon complaint, which reduced the smell to an extent but not completely. I caught a very bad cold at the property (which I am still suffering from), and suspect it is due to the damp in the room.

A great stay with a relaxing vibe that needs improvement to their Villas and restaurants.

Loved the location in terms of accessibility from the Jetty port and for visiting various spots in Havelock. In addition the view of the Andaman Sea from the resort was gorgeous. Reception and other hotel staff was very polite and helpful. Responsiveness for room service was prompt. Swimming pool was clean and towels were provided for on and off-site activities. Availability of Scubaluv ( a scuba diving company - not owned by Sea Shell) within the company was a great advantage as we could book and do dives at our convenience. Apart from Scuba the hotel also offers a variety of activities (eg. snorkeling, trekking, marine drives etc.) which is definitely a big plus. The on-site live music in the evening was a nice relaxing touch. Loved the placement of beach chairs that offer some of the most soothing views. The property was well maintained, clean and overall beautiful!

The lighting in the "Villa" rooms should be made better as it was extremely dim. We had a lizard in our room so pest/insect control should be done better. Opening couple of suitcases in bedroom simultaneously was a challenge due to lack of space and furniture. The service at White Lotus restaurant (which serves breakfast as well) was slow and needs improvement (eg. first wrong order was given and then it took them 15mins to replace a steamed rice with Jeera rice and by then all other dishes had become cold). Customizations of tea were not offered by the restaurant staff. While they agreed to customize it - it took them a really long time to get it served which is not ideal. The taste of dishes a Bonova needs improvement where same rice recipe is currently being used for chinese, mexican and italian dishes.

Havelock is relaxing

Lovely clean and located on a reef with mangrove beach. Well combined with it's surroundings. Great food and staff in restaurants.

Power shutoffs every 30 mins, island electricity not stable. Beach needs some hammock as well...

Good stay with great views

The private beach is the biggest highlight of this property.The landscaping is also done very well. The staff, especially the house keeping, is very hospitable and courteous. The on-site restaurants serve descent food. Upon request, they promptly arranged an additional night's stay for us. Their on-site adventure sports activities will keep your day busy (with additional cost).

Even though the aesthetics of the villa accomodation was nice, it lacked feasibility. The rooms were very ill lit and bathroom on the ground floor made it very inconvenient. Food was expensive. WiFi had a limitation of 1GB per day.

Overall recommended for international visitors

Nice resort-like place to stay. We had one problem with room, but we were promptly offered a new one to switch.

Private beach is nice to look at, but too rocky to actually walk on.

Wonderful

Fantastic location, private beach, lot of onsite open space, three different eating places, spacious rooms, very clean, very friendly and helpful staff. Great service.

Not many different menu options other than the standard Punjabi/Chinese dishes, there were different beers listed but only two were available. Considering an island location not a lot of variety of seafood.

Good Hotel - However we were expecting a much better private beach !

Overall the room was good - well kept and maintained and clean with required equipments. We spent most of the time in the hotel in the pool which was quite enjoyable. More activities for family / kids would have been nice.

Was told that the property had a private beach - which it had but it was all rocky and unuseable. Clearly not the kind of beach that one was expecting. Additionally, it felt very weird that for a couple of hours of extend stay ( checkout time is 10 AM - we wanted to leave by 12 noon) the front office wanted to charge extra for those two hours despite not having too much pressure from incoming guests. This has never happened elsewhere
